When planning or designing the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Natural Gas reticulation system for residential and commercial kitchen, the following aspects must be determined to ensure the system meets all safety and technical requirements of the legislation and standards as well as it is able to deliver the required quantity of gas:

  • Determine the approximate gas input in Btu/h for each gas appliance and supplied  pressure required in psig for the proper operation.

  • Determine the total demand of gas consumption, QT

  • Determine the coincidence factor, C.F and effective demand, QE

  • Determine the pipe route by identifying the location of gas appliances and suitable space or compartment in the premise or building that is required for the gas piping installation.

  • Identify the land and space in the premise or building that is required for LPG storage system, inclusive of parking and loading/unloading bay.

  • When additional piping is to be connected to the existing one, the pipe specifications must be checked and adequate capacity for a new demand are to be determined.

  • Determine the pipe size to carry the maximum gas flow rate and make sure the pressure drop at the most remote outlet is within the allowable range of initial pressure.

  • Determine the quantity of gas cylinders required to ensure the gas flow is continuous and uninterrupted throughout the operation gas appliances.
